Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Each year the Season of Lent offers us an opportunity to reach deeper into the meaning and value of our Christian living. Fasting, prayer and almsgiving are the practices Christians undertake for our internal renewal and for reaching out to others in love. Through these practices, we can reflect on our own faith, work on our conversion and rediscover the mercy of God as we become more merciful, kind and compassionate to others.

The Diocese of Penang continues to be committed to promoting and bringing¬† awareness of the Lenten campaign this year with the theme “Anywhere with Jesus”.

Through our acts of charity and almsgiving and other services, we bring with us, Jesus anywhere we go.

In conjunction with the Extraordinary Missionary Year 2019 initiated by the Diocese of Penang following the call of our Holy Father, Pope Francis, the Diocesan Lenten Campaign will incorporate the theme “Baptised and Sent: The Church of Christ on Mission in the World”. As baptised Catholics, we have been commissioned to evangelise and to be Christ’s witnesses, reigniting in us the ardour and passion of the Church’s mission in the world.

In this brochure you will find a personal checklist and the “Two Feet of Love in Action” of social justice and charitable works for humanity to help you experience a meaningful Lent.

I take the opportunity to thank all of you for your kind support and generosity. I pray that you will continue to participate and assist the Penang Office For Human Development in the various forms of charitable works organised in your parishes for this Lenten Campaign and make a ‘DIFFERENCE’ especially for those in need.

God bless you with an enriching and transformative experience during this Lent.
